About The Speaker:
Dr. Debora Duro is a Medical Director, Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Program
at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. She is an
Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at University of Miami Miller School
of Medicine, Miami, FL and an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School,
Boston MA. Dr Duro’s research focuses on Intestinal Failure and Parenteral Nutrition
Associated Liver Disease. She developed a non invasive breath test based on 13C-methionine
to assess the progression and improvement of intestinal failure associated liver
disease. She has investigated in a multicenter prospective study risk factors for
the development of Intestinal Failure and Parenteral Nutrition Associated Liver
Disease in a cohort of infants who underwent surgery for Necrotizing Enterocolitis.
Dr Duro has many publications in the field of Nutrition and Intestinal Failure and
has been invited to participate as a speaker in many national and international
medical meetings.
Dr. Debora Duro is graduated in Medicine from the Pontificia University Catholic
of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. She obtained a Master's in Nutrition at Florida
International University and did her Pediatrics Residency at Miami Children Hospital,
Miami Florida. She completed her Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship at Children
Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, Boston MA. She worked at Children Hospital
Boston for 3.5 years after her training as an attending in Gastroenterology and
Nutrition. She is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and a member
of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.
