Dr. Murray spent his career as a professor in the Department of Pediatrics of the Ohio State University School of Medicine, located at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. In 2006, he became the Director of the Center for Healthy Weight and Nutrition. Previously, Dr. Murray had spent 20 years at in the field of Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition, as well as the Director of the Borden Center for Nutrition and Wellness. Currently, Dr Murray is a member of the Department of Human Nutrition at Ohio State University and serves as a national consultant on projects involving pediatric nutrition and childhood obesity. Dr Murray is the past chair of the American Academy of Pediatrics Council on School Health

Dr. GilgerAbout The Speaker:

Dr. Gilger is Chief of the Section of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology & Nutrition at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) and is Chief of Service, at Texas Children's Hospital. Dr. Gilger graduated from Creighton University School of Medicine in 1980. He trained in Pediatrics at the University of Rochester School of Medicine from 1980-1983. He was Clinic Director at the Fort Yuma Indian Health Service Hospital in Yuma, AZ from 1983-1986, where he received the Indian Health-Service Emphasis Campaign Role Model Award. In 1989, Dr. Gilger completed his fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Gilger is a graduate of the Rice University Executive Education Program, Management for the Health Care Practitioner in 2000. He completed a Master Teacher Fellowship at BCM in 2002. Dr. Gilger is the recipient of numerous awards including the BCM Award of Excellence in Teaching in 1995, Houston Magazine's Top Doc's in Houston, Texas Monthly Magazine's Texas Super Doctor & Leading Physicians of the World's Top Pediatricians.

Dr. Tracie MillerAbout The Speaker:

Dr. Debora Duro is Medical Director, Intestinal Rehabilitation and Nutrition Program at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami, Florida. She is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Miami, Florida, and an Instructor in Pediatrics at Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. Dr Duro’s research focuses on Intestinal Failure and Parenteral Nutrition–Associated Liver Disease. She developed a noninvasive breath test based on 13C-methionine to assess the progression and improvement of intestinal failure–associated liver disease. She has investigated in a multicenter prospective study risk factors for the development of Intestinal Failure and Parenteral Nutrition–Associated Liver Disease in a cohort of infants who underwent surgery for Necrotizing Enterocolitis. Dr Duro has many publications in the field of Nutrition and Intestinal Failure and has been invited to participate as a speaker in many national and international medical meetings.

Dr. Debora Duro is graduated in Medicine from the Pontificia University Catholic of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. She obtained a Master's Degree in Nutrition at Florida International University and did her Pediatrics Residency at Miami Children’s Hospital, Miami, Florida. She completed her Pediatric Gastroenterology fellowship at Children’s Hospital Boston, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. She worked at Children’s Hospital Boston for three and one–half years after her training as an attending in Gastroenterology and Nutrition. She is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association and a member of the North American Society for Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition.

Delphis RichardsonAbout The Speaker:

Dr. Richardson joined the medical practice of Mesa Pediatrics Professional Association (MPPA) in 1993 and is currently the president of that group located in Tempe, AZ. Mesa Pediatrics has 4 satellite offices in the Valley of the Sun. He serves additionally as the president of the East Valley Pediatric Society and a member of the board of directors of the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Following 3 years of active duty with the National Health Service Corps and the Indian Health Service, Dr. Richardson completed his residency at Columbus Children’s Hospital as chief resident and later as residency program director.

Continuous work with and on behalf of athletic children and youths included his role as one of Ohio State University’s team physicians. Additional work included his role as chairman of joint advisory committee for sports medicine for OHSAA and OATA. He currently volunteers as long-time team physician to South Mountain High School in Phoenix, AZ, and previously covered Chandler High School (AZ) as well as Hamilton High School and Linden McKinley High School in Ohio.

Dr. Richardson has a certificate of added qualification (CAQ) in sports medicine and is a charter member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine (AMSSM). A valued member of the former Gatorade Sports Science Institute, Dr. Richardson continues his teaching role as a sports medicine continuity clinic preceptor for Phoenix Children’s Hospital.

Terrill BravenderAbout The Speakers:

Terrill Bravender MD, MPH, is the chief of adolescent medicine and the founder and director of the eating disorders program at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, Columbus, OH, and associate professor of clinical pediatrics and psychiatry at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Dr Bravender attended college and medical school at the University of Michigan and trained in pediatrics at Duke University Medical Center. He received additional training in adolescent medicine at Children’s Hospital Boston, and he received his master of public health degree from Harvard University. Prior to coming to Columbus, he held faculty positions at Harvard Medical School and Duke University and has authored numerous research papers, review articles, and book chapters related to eating disorders and adolescent health.


Staples Betty
Betty Staples, MD, is a general pediatrician and member of the Duke Eating Disorder Program. She is an assistant professor of pediatrics at Duke and program director of the Duke Pediatric Residency program. Dr. Staples’ research has focused on the areas of eating disorder treatment and risk factors and graduate medical education.

Dr. Staples did her residency training in pediatrics at Duke University Hospital in Durham, NC, and continued for an additional year as a general pediatrics fellow focusing on the treatment of eating disorders. Dr. Staples is a member of the Academic Pediatric Association, Association of Pediatric Program, and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr. Tracie Miller is Professor of Pediatrics and Epidemiology and Director of the Division of Pediatric Clinical Research at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Dr. Miller is also a member of the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at the University of Miami.

Dr. Miller received her Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Smith College in 1979, her Doctor of Medicine in 1985 from Case Western Reserve University and completed her Masters of Science in Epidemiology in 1992 from the Harvard School of Public Health. Her residency training in General Pediatrics was completed at Children’s Hospital, Boston as well as a three-year sub-specialty fellowship in Pediatric Gastroenterology and Nutrition.
